Read All About It

Hi there lovely reader! How are you on this fine Saturday? I hope you are doing well and are getting to experience some summer wherever you are! Today I wanted to share some nice books that I got recently. As you know from my "Current Read" posts, I love reading. I also love being inspired and these three books are full of information, inspiration, and of course fashion!

So the first book I want to share with you is "The Craft" by Lou Teasdale. This book is so cool. I really admire Lou, her career and her style, so when I heard she had a book coming out, I was eager to read it!

It's full of alternative hair, makeup, and nail tutorials. In the book Lou also shares her tips of getting into the industry. Even if your not fully into some of the alternative looks, it's still a fun book to look at. There are Polaroid-esque pictures and funky illustrations that fill the pages.

The next book I had seen all over social media and read great things about it, so I had to give it a go! The book is "#GIRLBOSS" by Sophia Amoruso

If you don't already know, Sophia is the founder and CEO of the amazing brand Nasty Gal. The book is divided into sections, each beginning with an illustration and a quote. (Obviously won me over instantly) Sophia writes, “I have three pieces of advice I want you to remember: Don’t ever grow up. Don’t become a bore. Don’t let The Man get to you. OK? Cool.  Then let’s do this.”

The final book is written by another person I admire so much. She's the epitome of glamour. The book is "Living in Style" by Rachel Zoe.

This book is so well written and absolutely stunning. There a professional photos as well as personal photos that Rachel Zoe shares.

What fashion books are you loving? Have you read any of these gems? Xx

Would You Rather | Beauty Tag

1. Would you rather be able to apply eyeliner perfectly or be able to contour like Kim Kardashian?

This one is soo tough, eyeliner is everything but so is contouring!! I guess I'd have to go with contour like Kim K.

2. Would you rather wear foundation which is two shades lighter or two shades darker?
Definitely lighter, I'm not the tannest person to begin with so I wouldn't mind being light. Also, bronzer and blush can add color, no orange fake tan like looks for me thanks!

3. Would you rather wear no lipstick ever again or no eyeliner ever again?
Lipstick for sure! I need my eyeliner.

4. Would you rather give up your foundation or your mascara?

Hmmm probably foundation, I'd probably regret it on spotty days but I love me some full lashes!

5. Would you rather apply your makeup yourself with no mirror whilst on a bumpy car journey or ask a 5 year old child to do it?
Can the 5 year old child be a makeup artist prodigy? Let's go with the five year old, maybe then you can guarantee some smooth lines.

6. Would you rather wear exactly the same makeup every single day for the rest of your life or drastically change your makeup every single day for the rest of your life (even if it doesn’t suit you!)?
Ok so this is going to make me sound boring but I think I'd have to choose wearing the exact same makeup every single day for the rest of my life. I would want to have to wear makeup that doesn't suit me.

7. Would you rather have dodgy brows or have patchy fake tan?
DODGY BROWS!! Fake tans are not for me, nor will they ever be, never have had a fake tan and I can almost guarantee that I never will. (Obviously Cara does not have dodgy brows, I just didn't like any of the pictures I could find)

8. Would you rather have perfectly white teeth or have your perfect hairstyle?
This one is interesting. I care about dental hygiene and having nice teeth so I'm going to have to go with perfectly white teeth. And let's be honest, having a perfect hair day can be hard to come by so if I can live through it now, I'd survive. Maybe my perfect teeth would distract from less than perfect hair.

9. Would you rather wear the same colour nail varnish for the rest of your life or be able to change the colours of your varnish whenever you like but it’s always a little bit smudged?
Well, seeing as smudged nail polish is a pet peeve of mine, I have to choose wearing the same color for the rest of my life.

10. Would you rather have lots of scented body and perfume products that smell amazing to you but to everyone else you smell like pine tree car air freshener or have products that smell average to you but smell incredible to those around you?
This question cracks me up. I'll go with smelling average to myself but amazing to those around me.

I hope you enjoyed this fun post! If  copy the questions and give it a go yourself! If you do, leave a link in the comments! I'd love to read it! Xx

High End "Haul"

Hello lovely reader! How is your week going? I hope it is going swell! Today I am doing a haul as you can see by the title but the reason I called it a "haul" is because I didn't buy any of these beautiful things. I was given them by a cousin of mine who works in the fashion industry. Let me please just say this first, having such high end things like this is not a typical thing for me. Yes I love fashion and I hope to one day buy many high end items but as of now I do not. Also, I am not using this as an oooo look what I got, bragging type of post. Maybe some of you who read this do have these type of items on a regular basis that's amazing and if you don't I'm right there with you. I am a firm believer that you don't have to spend tons of money to have cute things. So I am extremely grateful for these items and definitely do not take being given any of it for granted!

This lovely book was the first thing I pulled out of the bag of surprises. As you can see it is by Vogue and is all about Ralph Lauren. As you know, I love my quotes and this book it full of them. It's part picture book, part informative book.

When I saw this bag, of course my heart rate accelerated. Inside where two beautiful shades of nail polish, pictured below!

The next thing I got was this super cool puma t shirt. I think it can be casual or dressed up a bit.

This is a leather iPad sleeve. It's a deep navy although it shows up as black in the photos.

This is a little liquid metallic clutch and it is absolutely gorgeous! The leather is also so soft!

Chic iPhone case!
Ok so this was without a doubt my favorite part! When I saw the case I literally started freakimg out. I adore Victoria Beckham and admire her style so much! These sunglasses are ridiculous! (in a good way)

Finally, all the goodies came in this nice canvas tote.

What high end items do you love? What are your dream purchases? Xx

Cheeky Quote Tuesday

Current Read: The Fault In Our Stars

Hi lovely reader! How have you been? Today I'm going to do a post similar to one I did a couple months ago about "Looking for Alaska", only this time I have read the entire book so I can give you my full recommendation and opinion. So, this book has become very popular recently seeing as there is a movie coming out June 6 based on it. The book I am talking about it "The Fault In Our Stars" by John  Green. I read this book a month a go and I can honestly say that it is one of the best books I have ever read. No I'm not just saying that because the movies coming out or because it's the popular thing to do on the web right now, I truly love this book. It offers a side to illness and terminal illness that is full of truth, acceptance, and even humor. I can honestly say that it has affected my view on life and terminal illnesses. If anything it reminds us how grateful we are each day to be alive! So, if your thinking about reading this book, do it! I just bought myself a copy which I am going to reread and highlight my favorite quotes as I go. Yes it is emotional and deep at times, but it is also full of humor and wit. I am very quickly becoming quite the John Green fan and I am planning on reading some of his other books this summer. So I'll say it again, if your contemplating reading this book, go for it!

"Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten."

Have you read this book? What did you think? Any books you're loving? Xx

Spring Makeup Routine | Drugstore Makeup

Hi there lovely reader! Today I am going to share a spring makeup routine of mine which involves all drug store brands. It is extremely simple and light. I think as it gets closer to summer daytime makeup looks should become lighter. This look is good too for those who are not bold or willing enough to go all natural (which I know is on trend right now, #nomakeupselfie), haven't been that bold myself so I'll just stick to this for now. So have a scroll and see if it's something you like, I wasn't planning on giving exact names of products or shades just because the colors are not that difficult to find in whatever brand you prefer. If you would like to know a specific though just let me know in the comments and I'd be happy to tell you!

I do my eye makeup first, I know in some people's eyes that's completely wrong and I should be ashamed but that's just how I prefer to do things.
First I apply eyeshadow primer on my lids and a bit on to the crease of my lid.

Then I use a light champagne color that has some shimmer and apply it to my lid.

Next, I take a dark brown and apply it to the crease of my eye.

I then use a darker color, this can be any shade that you like, for me currently I love this dark purple and apply it to the outer corners of my eyes. I know that the purple may not seem like a "light look" but it really isn't that dark and it adds shape and depth to the eye. I then take a fluffy shadow brush and blend. I pull the brown from the crease up and then the dark corner shade out.

Then I curl my eyelashes and use a black eyeliner, followed by mascara on my top and bottom lashes. I then take a white eyeliner and apply it to my lower water line. This gives the illusion of bigger eyes. (Ooo ya big eyes trick)

Now this combination may seem a bit pointless, a moisture filled product and a stay matte product. Let me explain, I use the BB cream more like concealer (under my eyes and on any red spots). I do not apply it to my T zone which is where I have oily skin. I use the stay matte foundation in my t zone and only my t zone, everything else remains bare.

Then I apply a some powder, again only on my T zone.

Next some bronzer to contour my cheek bones.

Finally I apply this blush/highlighter to my cheekbones.

To finish off the look I like to add a spritz of some floral perfume!
